Welcome to Penns Primary PTA known as 'Friends of Penns'
The PTA is an integral part of the school community and has been for many years. In its time the PTA has raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment, resources, fun activities and events to enhance our children’s education experience and the school’s facilities.
The PTA is open to everyone with a connection to our school - parents, teachers, guardians, carers, grandparents, governors etc. We are a registered charity and we work on a volunteer basis, giving up our time to help out to benefit our children. We are a small, but active and enthusiastic group of parents and teachers who meet once a month to support the school and our children and we always welcome new members. Monthly meetings give an opportunity to meet other parents and have a ‘say’ into how the money raised is spent. It also allows parents to discuss and plan what events we should organise in the future.
Penns Primary PTA would like to welcome you to Penns Primary School. We are so looking forward to getting to know all the new families and helping you get involved in your child’s school life. Penns PTA is a registered charity whose sole aim is to raise much needed funds to pay for the extras that will benefit our school and children. We are a committee of volunteers who all have other commitments, such as: family, careers and interests. We all do as little or as much as we can, when we can. Everybody is very welcome to the meetings. These meetings are held at least every other month and all contributions are valued. The PTA works closely with the school and the events organised bring friends and families together. We aim to give children a sense of belonging and pride in their school and themselves, and above all have lots of fun!
The FOP has two main roles:
Fundraising: we raise money to buy additional resources and equipment needed by the school. All the monies raised are used to provide our children with these extras. To date, our children have benefited from outdoor sports equipment, the fabulous outdoor classroom, as well Year 6 leaver gifts and events and much more. In recent weeks Penns Primary PTA funded the new and very exciting ‘Trim Trail’ for KS2 children. These extras make such a difference to our school.
Fun Activities & Events: we organise events for our children outside the school curriculum, e.g. Summer Fair, Christmas Fair, Discos and much more. We also organise social events for parents, e.g. Quiz Nights. The main purpose of these events is to provide pleasure rather than profit.
How can you help? There are many ways you can help and support your child and our school through the PTA - we are always happy to welcome new volunteers! You may feel you could not take on a major role like Secretary or Treasurer but could volunteer some of your time with helping to plan an event or helping out at an event - just 10 minutes of your time could be invaluable at an event. We really couldn’t achieve what we do without the behind the scenes help that we receive and so we are happy for occasional helpers. You also don’t even have to attend every meeting as we communicate via email, text and our Facebook page.
Come along and join us, volunteer your time or your expertise and we guarantee you’ll have fun.
